Because of the success of its programming, the WDI has grown substantially over the last few years, and we now receive applications from more students than we can accommodate. In order to expand the reach of the camp, the WDI is launching a one-day extension for students attending the California National Debate Institute. WDI@Cal will focus on community and trust building among students with marginalized gender identities, and its curriculum will be modelled after the current WDI curriculum. One key topic of discussion will be ways to combat gender discrimination and violence in the debate community. Students attending Cal who have at any point been socialized as, or live and identify as women will be invited to attend. Students will be allowed to opt in and there will be no charge for the workshop. A more detailed schedule, including staffing information for WDI@CAL will be available at the Cal website and on the WDI site by April 1.
