Preparation for Airline Travel
1. Prior to leaving for the airport, confirm that your flight is on time (you can do this online or by phone).
2. If you have access to the internet and a printer, you can print out your boarding pass 24 hours before your flight (do not worry if you cannot).
3. Arrive at the airport at least one and a half hours before your flight is scheduled to leave.
4. Make sure your luggage does not weigh more than 50lbs.
5. Have some extra money (about $30) or a credit card because many airlines now charge for checked luggage.
6. When going through security you will need a government-issued photo ID and you cannot bring sharp objects (scissors included) or any liquids over 3 oz. Please note: students, even those under 16 years of age, must have a photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport. Please contact us with any questions.
7. Make your way to your assigned gate and see if you can locate any other girls traveling alone (chances are they are going to camp).
8. Stay close to the gate so you are sure to board on time.
9. If your flight is delayed and you have a phone, call a camp staff member (numbers above) to give them warning (do not worry if you are delayed in the air).
10. If you have a connection, travel to the next gate immediately after you get off the flight.
11. When you arrive in Minneapolis make your way to the baggage claim to get your luggage.
12. Look for women wearing WDI t-shirts and holding a WDI sign.
13. If you do not see camp staff, give us a call
